Accessibility at Discover Parks

Our aim is that everyone can enjoy their time here at Discover Parks, and all the facilities on offer. If you do need any assistance before or during your stay then our friendly team are here to help.

Before your stay

  • Our pitches and accommodation are pre-allocated; however we do not guarantee specific pitches or accommodation, we can however advise on the best accommodation or location for you. We currently have no “accessible” accommodation, however many of our units are “one level” accessed via a small number of steps. Our Arrow Bank reception, is accessible via a ramp, our Pearl Lake and Rockbridge offices are accessed via flat slabbed entrance; via traditional width doors, which are accessible with a standard size wheelchair.
  • We can take bookings online or over phone

Arriving at Discover Parks

  • The drive to our receptions are tarmac driveways, which lead onto and around park either continued on tarmac or gravel.
  • Our Arrow Bank reception, is accessible via a ramp, our Pearl Lake and Rockbridge offices are accessed via flat slabbed entrance; via traditional width doors, which are accessible with a standard size wheelchair.
  • Seating is available in all offices
  • During our check in, our team will direct you to your accommodation/pitch and answer any questions you may have

Facilities and Laundry rooms

  • Arrow Bank. All facilities are accessed off the tarmac roadway/paths, and via traditional width doorways with a small threshold strip. Showers have a small step up into a shower tray. We have one accessible wet room with an emergency pull cord.
  • Pearl Lake. All facilities are accessed off the tarmac roadway/paths, and via traditional width doorways with a small threshold strip. Showers have a small step up into a shower tray. We have one accessible wet room with an emergency pull cord.
  • Rockbridge. All facilities are accessed off the tarmac roadway/paths, and via traditional width doorways with a single step up into all facilities. Showers have a small step up into a shower tray in our induvial shower rooms, and our showers in the main facilities block are level with the floor. There is currently no designated accessible shower room.
  • All three parks have shower/washroom facilities, laundry rooms with washing up sinks, dog washes and elsan points. All facilities are at “traditional heights”.

Outside spaces

  • Arrow Bank has a “playing field”, nature walks which would be suitable for off-road style wheelchairs or mobility scooters and an off-lead dog walk area accessed via a wooden gate. The local village is accessible via the lane.
  • Pearl Lake has two playing areas, one non-fenced and one larger play area that is fenced in. It has an off-lead dog area, accessed via a wooden gate. There is a woodland walk accessible using an off-road style wheelchair or mobility scooter. On site is also a golf course, which is a traditional open expanse area of varying assents and descents. All facilities are accessed via tarmac or gravel roadway. Lakeside bar and bistro is accessible via a paved area through double doors into a bar area and function room that is one level.
  • Rockbridge has an off-lead dog walked accessed from a gravel roadway. It also has a “retreat” area which is accessible via a gravel walkway.
  • All parks are mainly flat, with tarmac or gravel roadways. Grass or gravel pathways.
  • Speed is restricted to 5mph on all parks.
  • Our parks try to support the “low lightening” movement, and therefore in many areas we use solar lighting, or timed lighting.

Touring, camping and self-catering areas

  • Our electric pitches have 16 amp hook up, some have tv ariel connection points, and our fully serviced pitches have grey waste drainage points.
  • We have either hard standing (gravel) or grass pitches.
  • Our facilities block, elsan points and dog wash areas are all situated together, near the touring area; and nearby are our bin compounds, where we have separated bins for recycling and general waste.
  • Cars are parked on your pitch or accommodation.
  • Most of our self-catering accommodation is accessed via a short flight of steps.
  • Unfortunately, none of our self-catering units are assessed as “accessible”, but please speak to our team for induvial requirements.
  • There are public transport links nearby, however please speak to our teams to find out more.

In the event of an emergency

  • Should there be an emergency onsite that requires any member of the public to evacuate, who requires assistance to evacuate (PEEP); we must be made aware of this before your stay, as we need to take the necessary steps to make our team aware of this and ensure a plan is in place.
